About Sallie
Sallie has had a thirty-year career as an artist, finding time to intermix her painting and drawing with the demands of a large and active family. She began her career as an art director for Norcross Greeting Cards (New York City), where she purchased artwork and directed one of the art studios. Frequently, her own work was incorporated into the various card lines!

Sallie’s great strength as an artist lies in her drawing ability, her zestful use of color, and the wide range of subjects that interest her. Aside from the popularity of her work, her staying power can be explained by her disciplined, businesslike approach, and her careful attention to delivering commissions on time.
Her most recent collection shows highly stylized women (and a few men) from a gilded, more fashionable era far more formal than our lives today. She mixes her sense of design and subject matter often with the vibrant use of color in hopes to woo the viewer towards a world of contentment. Sometimes a small animal will be camouflaged within the piece.

In addition to private owners of her work, pieces by Sallie are owned by Honda, UBS Financial (formerly Paine Webber), National City Bank, Merrill Lynch, and several medical practices.
A published author, Sallie is a member of The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She’s also a member of Americans for the Arts.

Sallie, having been widowed at a very early age, cherishes life. She views life as a gift of which every moment should be savored. She is blessed with five great children, including 29 year-old triplet sons, an amazing first grandchild, Sam, a beautiful daughter-in-law and a wonderful husband, all of whom continuously inspire Sallie in her work. Ani, Sallie’s late twelve-year-old golden retriever continues to serve as a constant reminder of how precious life and loyalty are in this world today.
